During a 1-hour stint of observations in the late afternoon of 16 May 1969, 230 northwards migrating European Honey-buzzards were counted near the village of St. Peray (Cevennes) in southern France. The birds passed singly and in small flocks at eye level or slightly higher. The next day, 17 May 1969, another 69 European Honey-buzzards (flock sizes of 7,18, 7, 22 and 15 birds) passed the Col de la Fayolle (940 m), some 13 km west of Privas, in a northern direction.
