Butterflies sighted in the coastal region of Voomes Duin (province South Holland) usually belong to common species. The habitat is potentially suitable for other species as each year new butterfly species are observed. Voomes Duin consists of dunes, stretches of sand, dune grassland and small woods. To improve the habitat for butterflies, the region is managed by mowing, felling and removing excessive vegetation from woodland paths.
