Check-list of Red Sea Mollusca

This check-list is dedicated to the late Isaac Yaron, the eminent Israeli malacologist who devoted many years to collecting, studying and researching Red Sea molluscs. He started the preparation of a species list of Red Sea molluscs, but his untimely drowning during a scuba dive in 1985 prevented him from concluding this task. Our purpose is to provide a preliminary check-list of all species known to us to occur in the Red Sea. We hope it will be of help to all people who are studying the molluscs of this area as a convenient list which can be consulted to see which particular species are recorded in the area. Many names are updated and references to illustrations in a few popular books are added te help with the identification of many of the species. Some notes on the preparation of this list can be found in Orlin, 2000.
