In books and other publications, photos and pictures of snails are sometimes printed in inverted left-to-right image. This unintentional suggestion of mirror-image specimens of snails does not reflect the particular evolution of asymmetry in the group of Gastropods. So, authors and editors are requested to avoid digital artefacts. It is also suggested to revive the use of the Dutch word “slakkenkoning” (snail king, Schneckenkönig) for the very rare specimens that turn the other way.
