Broedt het mannetje Boomvalk Falco subbuteo?

During 2010-14 and in 2017, a total of 31 hours were spent observing active nests of Hobbies in the central Netherlands. Males were recorded incubating (sitting in the nest during the egg stage) during six occasions, four of which followed prey transfer from male to female, when the female had left the nest to feed in the vicinity. In the two other instances no particular trigger could be discerned as to why the male took over incubation. Incubation bouts of males varied considerably (of five timed: lasting 2, 16, 20,21 and 48 minutes).
