This book is a welcome compilation and evaluation of palynological data obtained during the last decade in a detailed study of the classical Eocene localities in the Dorog basin of Hungary. Although the first paper on this area, by Potonic and Gelletich, dates already from 1933, no further palynological work was done for a long time and later papers were published mainly in Hungarian and therefore difficult to study. The author does not restrict himself to palynology, but throughout the book the pollen data are compared with macrofossil data. The microflora is listed systematically with complete references to literature, but descriptions are only given for five newly described species. All species discussed are, however, pictured on 22 plates with photomicrographs of medium quality.
