In 2019 the hybrid horsetail Equisetum ×meridionale (Milde) Chiov. (= E. ramosissimum Desf. × variegatum Schleich.) was found in Zeelandic Flanders, Province of Zeeland, in a former creek of the Westerschelde. This was the first time the hybrid has been found in the Netherlands.
