The molluscs in the ditches and their banks in the Noordpolder near Ossendrecht (province of Noord-Brabant, the Netherlands) were assessed. In the coming years the water level will be raised. It is currently unknown how this will effect the malacofauna. Therefore, a baseline study was carried out. In total 10 aquatic mollusc species and 14 terrestrial species were found. The fauna is characteristic for the western part of Noord-Brabant. The assessment will serve as a baseline study for monitoring future faunal developments as the aquatic habitats in the Noordpolder are likely to undergo significant modifications.
