During an investigation regarding the molluscs between Naarden and Huizen in the province North-Holland (Netherlands), a typical planorbid snail was found. It seems to be Planorbis planorbis var. ecarinatus Westerlund, 1885. The shell of this species lacks, or has a very small, keel. Also the colour of the tentacles of the living animal is discussed.
