The molluscs in the streams around the village of Chaam (province of Noord Brabant, The Netherlands) were assessed. In the forthcoming years a range of measurements will be taken in order to improve the water quality in the area. In total 21 aquatic mollusc species and 19 terrestrial species were found. The fauna is characteristic for the western part of Noord-Brabant. The assessment will serve as a baseline study for monitoring future faunal developments as the aquatic habitats around Chaam are likely to undergo significant modifications.
