In March 2020, a small population of Himantoglossum robertianum (Giant orchid) was discovered in the dunes near Noordwijk, Province of Zuid-Holland, which is the first record of this species in the Netherlands. This article describes the location and the phenology of H. robertianum in the Netherlands. The morphological differences between H. robertianum and H. hircinum (Lizard orchid) and the recent expansion of H. robertianum in Europe are discussed as well.
