On 24 October 2019 a juvenile Red-footed Falcon was observed along a dike at Eemshaven in the province of Groningen (northeastern Netherlands), in the company of a female Kestrel F. tinnunculus. The bird was hunting dragonflies at ground level, which – when taken – were eaten in flight. The bird was exceedingly tame, unlike the Kestrel. Its colour-ring X78 proved that it was a juvenile ringed as nestling near Kórós Maros National Parc in Hungary on 20 July 2019, some 1252 km to the east of the observation site in The Netherlands.
