In the period 1986-2019 the author collected numerous valves of unionids and shells of other freshwater molluscs as fossils on the beach of Ellemeet, east of Renesse (isle of Schouwen-Duiveland, the Netherlands 51°44'30"N en 3°48'20"E). The possible origin and age of the collected material is discussed. Most likely this material stems from the basic peat and river clay sediments deposited in the early Holocene and is possibly related to the River Scheldt and its (dis)tributaries.
