On 15 February 2020, two small-billed Hook-billed Kites - a male and a female - were seen in the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in Texas. The female showed several very deep, slow wing beats, in the midst of other flight - a display behavior described for male Hook-billed Kites. In between she shortly kept her wings in a V-shape above the body. The display flight was level, not undulating as in the display flight of Honey-Buzzards Pernis apivorus.
