Arctische strandschelp Mactromeris polynyma (Stimpson, 1860) uit de Meester van der Heijden groeve in Nieuw-Namen

Two molds of molluscan valves sampled in 1983 in the Meester van der Heijden quarry at Nieuw-Namen, that where originally recognised as Spisula arcuata (Sowerby, 1817), turn out to belong to Mactromeris polynyma (Stimpson, 1860). The finds confirm the Late Pliocene age of the sediments in which they were found.
