From the very beginning, in 1999, Henk Schulp was an active member of the Dutch Desmid Working group. Unfortunately, he passed away last January. He will be remembered by his many microphotographs of species figuring in the series 'Desmid of the month'. Moreover, quite a number of his pictures served as a source for species illustrations in the flora 'Desmids of the Lowlands'.
