Sharp increase in non-native reptile species on Saba Invasive species form a major threat to global biodiversity, including to native species on the Dutch Caribbean islands of Saint Martin, Saba and Saint Eustatius. Among these islands, especially Saint Martin is known for its high presence of non-native species of herpetofauna. Fieldwork conducted in 2021 on the island of Saba uncovered three previously undocumented non-native reptiles. These discoveries lead to a doubling of the number of non-native reptiles for the island.
