In this article two new species are described: Rubus horridifolius K.Meijer & A.Beek and R. frieslandicus K.Meijer & A.Beek. Both species are from the northern part of the Netherlands, where they occur in the transition zone between the sandy regions in the east and the clayey polders in the west. This region is rich in species from the sections Subidaei (Focke) A.Beek and Corylifolii Lindl.
