Cernuella aginnica (Locard, 1882) on the Groote Heide near Venlo

In 2008 shells resembling those of Candidula gigaxii were discovered at the Groote Heide near Venlo, province of Limburg. On 25 September 2011 three live specimen were collected that by genital morphology were identified as relatively small, though adult specimens of Cernuella aginnica. Rare plants and this snail species found at this site suggest passive introduction by military vehicles some years earlier.
