Rapana venosa for the first time on the beach of the Netherlands

Pieter Kruse collected on December 11th, 2011 an empty shell of the invasive species Rapana venosa at the beach between Zandvoort and Bloemendaal, the Netherlands. Despite two records of living animals, catched in the southern North Sea by trawlers in 2005, this is the first record of a beached shell in the Netherlands.
