In February 2006 on a beach at the northern coast of Penang, an island at the west coast of Malaysia, two species of Arcidae were found, which were the same as those found more than a century ago on the same island. According to Swennen et al. (2001) they were described as Scapharca deyrollei en Scapharca penangana by Jousseaume ( 1893). However, recently Huber (2010) put these names in synonymy with resp. Anadara (Anadara) indica Gmelin, 1791 en Anadara (Scapharca) rhombiodalis (Schumacher, 1817). I like these names much less, but they are, of course, correct. There is no rule concerning the adding of synonyms with relevant names after correct names.
