Desmoulin’s whorl snail Vertigo moulinsiana (Dupuy, 1849) (Gastropoda, Pulmonata): a new perspective on the occurrence of this species in Limburg

For decades Limburg was the only province in the Netherlands with few remaining populations of Desmoulin’s whorl snail Vertigo moulinsiana. Since the beginning of this century the species has been discovered in more provinces of the Netherlands. Also in the province of Limburg more populations were encountered. These populations are described and new perspectives on the ecology of the species are presented.
