During a brief survey of the terrestrial molluscs of a former railway track, the so-called ‘Fish-line’ in IJmuiden, North Holland, the Netherlands, on 30 September 2013 16 species were encountered. Ten species, including the protected Helix pomatia, were present on the part of the track running south-north, which is densely covered by trees and shrubs. A same number of species was seen on the open part of the track running east-west. On that part of the former railway track especially xerothermic species belonging to the genera Candidula and Cernuella were commonly encountered. During a future follow-up survey special attention will be paid to minute species and additional slug species.
