Broedgevallen van de Oehoe Bubo bubo in Bakkum in 2020-21

In 2020-21, an Eagle Owl nested in a farmyard close to the dunes in Bakkum. The male was probably an escaped or released Bubo bubo turcomanus from nearby Alkmaar in 2016. The female was a European Eagle Owl Bubo bubo bubo that joined B.b. turcomanus in 2019. In 2020, the breeding attempt failed in the egg stage. In 2021, the parents managed to hatch two chicks but both parents disappeared before the chicks had become independent. The chicks were taken to a rehabilitation centre and later released elsewhere in The Netherlands.
