The desmid flora in lakes and ponds in the Mt. Adams region of the Cascade Range in Washington State (USA) is not well studied due to the remote and seasonally inaccessible nature of the area. Samples collected from three lakes and a floating bog revealed three new taxa Cosmarium vangeestii, Staurastrum cascadense, and Staurastrum orbiculariforme. Cosmarium turpinii var. eximium was raised in rank and rendered the new name Cosmarium turpinioides.
