Heide- en hoogveengebieden zijn in Nederland bekende leefgebieden van de adder (Vipera berus). De adder komt echter ook voor in andere habitats, waaronder verschillende typen bos. In de Nederlandse literatuur, maar ook in het veldwerk, is in de 21e eeuw weinig aandacht gegeven aan adders in bossen Adders in the forest – sightings in an underlit reptile habitat Heathlands and moors are well-known and typical habitats for European adder populations (Vipera berus) in the Netherlands. However, monitoring in the central part of the Veluwe revealed a considerable amount of adders (21% of all observations) which were found in different types of forests in summer. Although the adders are harder to find, the authors underline the importance of forests as foraging habitat. The results of their study are compared to other studies in both Germany and the Netherlands
