A short note concerning a large glutton

The Eastern spadefoot toad Pelobates syriacus (Boettger, 1889), (Pelobatidae) is mainly feeding on large terrestrial land snails during the short period when it is active in the rainy period in Israel. It is swallowing whole adult snails at least up to a size of 3 cm. The question remains: how does it get rid of the snail’s shell?
