Niet één maar twee grote zoetwatermossels op Terschelling

In the autumn of 2015 a typical Swan mussel Anodonta cygnea was found in the same ditch where in the past introduced Pond mussels Anodonta anatina had been found. In this ditch near Baaiduinen on the Wadden Sea island Terschelling freshwater fish has been released which originated from the mainland of the Netherlands. Most probably the introduced fish species carried glochidia from two species belonging to the genus Anodonta.
