In May 2016 in Valkenburg, province of Limburg, an empty shell was collected which resembled the Wide-mouthed glass snail Aegopinella nitens (Michaud, 1831). One month later the site was revisited in search of living specimens of glass snails. Next to seven wide-mouthed empty shells of glass snails two wide-mouthed living specimens were collected. The latter were photographed, conserved in alcohol and dissected. Disappointingly, the genitals of the single specimen suitable for anatomical study proved to represent the Smooth (or Reddish) glass snail Aegopinella nitidula (Draparnaud, 1805).
