De Hiatella met de rode sifobuizen … of een dwaaltocht op het internet

This paper describes how a quest for determination descriptions on Hiatella species, initiated by the finding of a Hiatella with red siphon tips at Westbout (province of Zeeland, the Netherlands), deviated. The quest resulted in a ramble on the internet which yielded an overview of DNA findings – without determination descriptions – on 13 taxa of Hiatella, but with links for five taxa to locations described in historic documents.
