‘Fort bij Rijnauwen’ near the city of Utrecht is a fortification built in the 19th century and which was in military use until 1971. It is now a valuable combination of a historic monument and a nature reserve, of which the biodiversity is relatively rich in plants and where about 50 bird species have been found breeding. Malacologically this location was not unknown, although data have never been formally published. This report of the NMV-excursion to ‘Fort bij Rijnauwen’ lists 52 species of land and freshwater molluscs. Data from a previous inventory published in 1974 are presented as well. The total number of mollusc species ever recorded is 68.
