Broedgevallen van Rode Wouw Milvus milvus te Chaam in 2017 en 2018

In the western part of the province of Noord-Brabant a territorial pair of Red Kites was detected in June 2018. Later observations suggested that at least one young must have fledged; the nest was located in the following winter. This nest was also occupied in 2018, when up to two large nestlings were recorded till 9 July. Later observations were lacking, and fledging could not be proven. The territory was not occupied in 2019 and 2020. Breeding records in Noord-Brabant are still rare. Poisoning (in 2018, another bird than one of the members of the breeding pair) and disturbance by photographers have been recorded in the region, showing the importance of secrecy and nest protection.
