An attempt was made to reclaim the Long fingernail clam Musculium transversum (Say, 1829) from a locality in the Drentse Aa river in the province of Drenthe, the Netherlands described in 2004. As this attempt was successful, more nearby locations were explored for the presence of the species. At two locations southward the species was not found, but it was encountered at two out of four locations northward. Probably the Long fingernail clam is more common in the north of the Netherlands as currently known.
