Op zoek naar het Bijenkorfje Spermodea lamellata (Jeffreys, 1830)

During a short holiday in the first week of May 2021 the author stayed with his family in the province of Drenthe, the Netherlands. Not far away from the village where they stayed, the eldest forest of The Netherlands is situated: the Mantingerbos. This small forest is famous for two reasons. On the one hand, its vegetation consists of a mixture of Beech (Fagus sylvatica), oak (Quercus spec.) and rather old specimens of Holly Ulex aquifolium. On the other hand, the small forest is known as the only location where in the Netherlands the small terrestrial snail Spermodea lamellata (Jeffreys, 1830) was found. As far as known, the species was found there in 1952 for the last time. Two ingredients that combine usefulness and agreeability.
