The aim of this contribution is to inform the readers about the results of an investigation to selected locations and their characteristics of find-spots of Devonian fossils in the western and central part of the 'Sötenicher Kalkmulde', Eifel, West Germany. It is also an attempt to give our junior members an idea about the way in which a private excursion can be prepared and they should consider the tables at the end of this article as a monument which stands for the differences which always exist between the prepared excursion plan and their relevant expectations on one side and the field experiences on the other side.
