Inleiding

A review has been given of the memoir on map sheet Heerlen, published in december 1980, with a main geological map 1:50.000, a single value map of the Pre-Quaternary on the same scale, four single value maps 1:100.000 and a sheet with sections ranging from the surface to the Carboniferous. The practical significance of geology for agriculture, town and country planning and engineering has been given.
