Within the worked stone material, excavated at the Early - Medieval trading site of Dorestad, about 200 fragments of mortars were recognized. Two fragments are consisting of quartz trachyte to quartz latite. This rock was quarried at the Drachenfels, a volcanic mountain situated in the Siebengebirge near Königswinter, West-Germany
