The authors compared their findings with those of Hamilton & Trewin (1994). In contrast to Hamilton & Trewin in Westfield the authors found traces of a large predatory fish i.e. scales belonging to the crossopterygian Glyptolepis with a diameter of 29 mm indicating that the fish must have had a lenght of one meter or more (fig. 3a). Another addition to the faunal overview as presented by Hamilton & Trewin is formed by the remains of the placoderm Homosteus. The influence of adipocire, decaying gasses (fig. 5-9), mortis regis (fig. 10-11) and possible bitumen (fig.12) concerning the state of preservation of Osteolepis panderi are discussed. Thanks to Gordon Todd for his hospitality and discussions regarding decaying soft tissues.
