In the caves of South-China remains are found of a very large Ape (Gigantopithecus) and orang-outang. In the caves of Sumatra, Borneo and fissure fillings of Java also remains of orang-outang are found, however, no Gigantopithecus. In the area in between South-China and the Indonesian Archipelago there are known only a few sites with orang-outang. In the following there is a description of an expedition in 1993 to the gaves with orang-outang in North Vietnam.
