Mammoethutten

A lot of mammoth bone structures are known from Czech, Poland, the Ukraine, White-Russia and Russia. Most of them are interpreted as the ruins of mammoth dwellings, which were occupied seasonal, or possibly in some cases the whole year through. They date from Late Paleolithic, some from Middle Paleolithic. The builders of the huts used mammoth bone instead of wood, since useful trees were not available in the time of steppe area.
