An almost complete left mandible of a wolverine ( Gulo gulo LINNAEUS, 1758), also known as glutton, with almost complete dentition was collected from the North Sea floor for the first time in November, 2006. It was discovered amongst the flatfish during the sorting on board the trawler “George Johannes Klazina” registered as “G04”. The location was about 52° 02’ North and 03° 00’ East, southwest of the Brown Bank and renowned as a locality for Pleistocene fossils. Awaiting the results of radiocarbon dating, and considering the state of mineralization, we estimate the age to be Late Pleistocene. This first discovery of this species and its links to the steppe megafauna may help to develop a better understanding of the Late Pleistocene megafauna habitat of the current North Sea region.
