Catapodium marinum (L.) Hubbard has its northern limit on the continent in the Netherlands. Up to now it was known here from 4 localities only. In 1960 the author discovered two new and very rich localities on the isle of Walcheren between Domburg and Westkapelle. It is supposed that the plants have reached one of these localities as a result of the inundation after the great flood of 1953, and the other with rubble from Westkapelle, which village was destroyed during World War II, and inundated afterwards.
