The first recent find of Sphagnum imbricatum Hornsch. ex Russ. in the Netherlands is recorded. This atlantic species, rare in the western part of the European continent, was found in a Phragmites-, Molinia-vegetation Sphagnumin the fen area near Nieuwkoop (prov. Z.-Holland), in the summer of 1967.
