Problemen bij de Nederlandse bosviooltjes

On the advice of the reviser of the Violaceae for the Flora Neerlandica the Floristic Council 1975 decided to consider Viola reichenbachiana and V. riviniana conspecific. However field research in April 1978 proves that living specimen are clearly distinct, especially in the colour of the spur: V. reichenbachiana dark purple, and V. riviniana yellowish white. It was also remarkable that on the 15th of April V. reichenbachiana was in full flower, while only a few flowering specimen of V. riviniana were observed. The floristic investigators are adviced, in spite of the opinion of the Floristic Council 1975, still to distinguish both Viola species.
