Asplenium septentrionale is a small evergreen fern, normally growing on siliceous rocks and restricted to Central Europe and the United Kingdom. In 1990 it was discovered on a brick wall along the Willemsvaart in Zwolle. One individual of the fern appeared to thrive between the brick at the upper side of a lock wall. The nearest localities are situated in Belgium.
