Distribution maps of plants in Britain are heavily biased by unsystematic sampling methods and recording bias. The Flora of Ashdown Forest is the first flora to minimize recording bias and record systematically, and sets new standards for recording in Britain. The methods are practical and can be applied to areas of any size or to any taxonomic group.
