Book Reviews of publications related to botanical work in the Netherlands

This book gives a comprehensive literature review of cytological investigations from 1901 until 1960 on the periodicity of mitotic cell divisions in the apex of roots and shoots. The author did extensive research on Lonicera nitida. In view of the many controversial opinions concerning fundamental problems (see Chapter I), the author thought it useful to gain more knowledge about these phenomenons in plants growing in nature, before turning to laboratory research.
