In this booklet a number of broadcast talks on the vegetation of the Dutch West-Indian Islands have been collected, translated into English. It contains, moreover, excellent photographs. The chapters give an impression of the great differences between the vegetation of the Windward Islands (St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius) and the Leeward Islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curasao). The considerable influence of man is amply discussed. Though the author — an authority on flora and vegetation of this regionaddresses himself to the general public rather than to botanists, some of our readers may be interested especially as the booklet is written in English.
