Several species have been confused with Dichondra repens J. R. & G. Foster, which is strictly confined to S. E. Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand. D. micrantha Urban is the most widely distributed Dichondra and is known from Arabia, eastern Asia and, evidently introduced, from Africa, N. America, and Europe. It seems to be originally from eastern Asia.
