Extensively used grasslands in the Netherlands are low productive grasslands unsuitable for intensive agricultural use and which are not improved for reasons of economy or landscape planning. Because of the increasing requirement of grasslands for recreation, nature and landscape conservancy, these grasslands are used for extensive agricultural purposes in existing nature reserves or in national parks to be created.
